Untraced

The date received is written as 20 Mar with no year anywhere on the sheet, so the year is not given. Delivery promised for the Whit holiday; no deposit taken. “41" W.B.” is written beside the frame number and “27 HP wheels” at the head; “Next weds will call” is written above the title and struck through, and a telephone number with a first name is pencilled in the top left corner. The attachment page, headed “SELF ASSEMBLE” and underlined, lists the parts to go with the frame: Deore XT brakes, Mountech GTL rear and Le Tech front gears, brown Weinmann levers, Suntour VX gear lever, 49D chainset with 6½" (165mm) cranks and no rings, SR platform pedals, plastic unbreakable clips and straps, Sedisport chain, Brooks Pro saddle, SR Laprade pin, a block of 14 16 18 21 25 30, SR Maes-type bars and 8cm stem both marked “LATER”, and 27" wheels of Mistral rims, double-butted stainless spokes and SR large-flange 36-36 hubs with Ribsport tyres, Specialized struck out; carriers are a Blackburn rear and Nagaoka AFC-1 front, with Specialized bottle cages and one double for the handlebar. The surname is read from a fast hand and could as easily be Brazier.
