Dated only “12 Aug.” with no year written anywhere, so the year is left unrecorded. “27s close.” at the top right is taken as 27-inch wheels with close clearance. The size was first written 23" and struck through in favour of 22¾", and the second figure of the angles is overwritten, read with hesitation as 74°. The main finish is “To follow”. The doctor's surname is read as Batten and could as easily be Barten or Baten.
