Frame
9002
The frame number box reads “0292.” though the attached letter heads the order “No 9002”, which is how the archive files it. Above the name, “653. Tubing” is pencilled with the word “Kathy” beside it, whose meaning is not clear. The attachment is a letter to Sid dated 22 Feb 90 confirming a frameset discussed by telephone: Reynolds 653, dimensions copied from the customer's existing frame, the shop's number 2486, a single gear boss with rear-triangle cable stop and a neat cable guide on top of the bottom bracket, rear-brake cable stops at either end of the top tube, bottle-cage fixings on the down tube only with the bottom fixing 165 mm from the bottom bracket, a shortened rear triangle with vertical dropouts, no Reynolds stickers, the shop's transfers on “headset”, down tube and seat tube, and one solid colour, cream, with no linings; delivery was asked for mid-April, the writer adding “Basically I'm after a neat & tidy frame which also looks fast.” The year here is taken from that letter, as the sheet itself gives only “15 FEB”. The ends entry is read as “Std Short. Cut back”, the last words from a fast hand.
